Interview

Frédéric Spitz, Strategy Expert at MOSI consulting, answered questions from Dogfinance.

1) Could you introduce yourself in a few words?

Originally from the Grand-Est and with a multicultural profile, since 1999 I have had the opportunity to build a diversified international banking and financial career, both with public (German Central Bank) and private (Deutsche Bank, Deloitte) institutions.

Present in the Luxembourg financial market since 2007, I have worked in asset management in private banking (Relationship & Investment Management) and in financial services to companies (Consultant).

At the same time, I regularly intervene as a professional trainer on topics related to the financial markets, with players in the sector or as part of academic degree courses, in business schools for students at Bachelor and Master level.

More recently, I developed a support activity for governance and corporate strategy, as I do with MOSI Consulting, while also keeping a curious and fascinated eye on several recent technological (r)evolutions .

2) Looking back, what do you think of the evolution of the Luxembourg financial center over the past 10 years?

By trying to take a cross-sectional look at the market’s activities (banks, insurance, financial services, consulting or auditing firms, trustees, specialized service providers, new players), three trends seem to me to be profound:

– Plural internationalization, ranging from the clientele to the investments, including the qualifications of the candidates and the profiles sought.

– Increasing complexity of regulatory and reputational issues, at the crossroads between economic positioning, compliance and ethics.

– An intensification of the impulses for change and transformation, amplified by the impact of the pandemic on organizations, by technology and even by new expectations.

” I would highlight, on one hand, the themes of sustainable finance with the standards ESG […] On the other hand, the health crisis and the use of certain technologies or approaches are opening up interesting horizons in terms of asset allocation.

3) What will be the challenges of managing financial portfolios in the new world?

Beyond the current and future macroeconomic aspects (interest rates, inflationary signs, growth prospects, changes in world trade, etc.), I would highlight, on one hand, the themes of sustainable finance with the standards ESG (SFDR Regulation) which will become an essential management tool for financial institutions over time (in terms of regulatory, organizational and cultural implications).

On the other hand, the health crisis and the use of certain technologies or approaches are opening up interesting horizons in terms of asset allocation.

New markets are emerging (artificial intelligence, robotics, crypto-technologies, for example) and influence the strategies or instruments deployed (risk management, derivatives, etc.) – both for investors and financial service providers.

4) What is your role at MOSI Consulting?

Based on the values and strengths of MOSI Consulting, my role as a strategy expert revolves around two fundamental axes:

– Governance: strategic support for decision-making (regulatory and organizational policy, standards and managerial processes).

– Transfer of knowledge: development of all employees [consultants and support functions] on subjects of market mechanisms, financial instruments and even compliance.

Both are part of the same logic: to make the link between finance and advice, for the benefit of our clients, partners, employees and the financial sector – our community.

5) A final word?

More and more clients place their trust in us and I hope to continue to contribute positively to the development of MOSI Consulting.

In a necessarily special (post-)sanitary context, the commitment of our entire team and the actions undertaken have made it possible to grow – a great satisfaction!
